Car emergency kit items are not just things that are handy to have on hand, but can literally make the difference in surviving during an emergency situation.

The list shown below includes not only items mentioned in the video above, but some other suggested items that are important to have on hand if you’re involved in or on the scene of an accident, experiencing severe weather, or if a natural disaster occurs.  In addition, to the Car Emergency Kit Items below, it is also very important to keep a Car First Aid Kit in your vehicle as well in order to be able to be prepared in case of a medical emergency.

  • Spare tire and jack
  • Tire gauge (to make sure your spare tire is properly inflated)
  • Vehicle owner’s manual
  • Flashlight with extra batteries in a separate bag
  • Battery powered lantern
  • Cell phone and car charger
  • An orange reflector triangle
  • Bungee cord
  • Jumper cables
  • Work gloves
  • Shop towels/rags
  • Bungee cords
  • Washer fluid
  • Duct Tape
  • Sand, kitty litter, or asphalt roofing shingles (in case stuck in winter weather)
  • Battery powered radio with extra batteries
  • Emergency blanket
